I’m making this in response to Erin, and because I know this post will be really long I’m just going to make it a standalone text post, potentially with VISUAL AIDS.
Right, so, this is the Disc:
It is literally a large, flat disc sitting on the back of four elephants which stand, in turn, on the back of a large turtle called the Great A’tuin.
But in case you don’t want to read through my unfortunately massive response below, I’ll give you a really short tl;dr summary - they’re technically standalones, but they make more sense and are more fun if you follow the series within the series, focusing on different groups of characters. Never (NEVER) start with the first two, because they aren’t as good, funny, or characteristic of the series as a whole as basically any of the others, basically the entire Disc is a parody of Earth, and my favourite groups of characters are Death and Co., the witches, and the wizards, but what you should read first really depends on what you like.

Oh my god this is everything I could ever hope for in a post about a book series I want to start reading at some point...
